Accolades

So last night Katie and I were talking about my friends and she mentioned that she thinks my boy Kino is really funny. In fact she told me that she thinks that he is one of 3 of my friends that she would "feel comfortable" texting "randomly" (be cool Kendra, it's not weird like that). So today at work I was thinking about that conversation and decided that I would text Kino and tell him how cool he is. The following is our text conversation and a peek into Kino and my psyche...
Me: Dude, last night Katie told me that she thinks you're one of my coolest friends.
Kino: I take that as the highest compliment. Like being anointed a Jedi Warrior
Me: Or a Rider of Rohan (a LOTR reference for the lay person) (LOTR = Lord of the Rings for the person raised in a box who didn't know that)
Kino: Honorary member of the Rotary Club
Me: Or a Grandmaster Mason
Kino:Honorary degree from Devry University
Me: Or getting certified as a Long Shoreman from ITT Tech
Me: Or being an eyewear consultant at lenscrafters
Kino: Certified for the handling and disposing of toxic materials in a residential area
Kino:Inducted into the Hong Kong logistics Comission
Me: Or being 'promoted' to the Geek Squad at Best Buy
Kino: Being a disgruntled employee at Best Buy and starting the company Fire Dog
Me: Or Being disgruntled at fire dog and starting the rap syndicate called Snoop Dogg
Kino: Yeah, that's how I feel about that.

Kino and I are so freakin funny.

Benihana Bandwagon

I have always heard everyone talk about how much they love Benihana. All I knew about this restaurant was that it served seafood, and it was Asian cuisine. And that's all I had to know to keep me away from that place! But still, all the rave reviews kept me curious.
So I heard about this promotion that they do for your birthday. They send you a free meal certificate (value of $30!) that you can use anytime during your birthday month. This was the motivation that I needed to get me in there. So we grabbed Mike and Jen and made reservations. And I am now on the bandwagon! With their reservations there is no waiting. And the "chefs" cook the food right at your table, and they throw in a bunch of cheesey jokes and entertainment. It was really fun!

Its a little pricey but with the free birthday meal and the food and entertainment, its definitely worth it. Click here to get on the birthday list and enjoy a meal on them!
At the end of your meal they come and take a picture of your party and send you home with your own copy in a cute frame. Benihana's turned out to be worth all the hype I have heard about! Konnichiwa!!

Remembering JR

At the beginning of a new year I am reminded of all the blessings that I have been given. I am acutely aware of how precious life is. This past week the world lost a good man, JR Price. At a young age of 23 he lost a battle against Pneumonia and ARDS. While this news is tragic and VERY heartbreaking for everyone that knew him, I know that he was a lot bigger than any of us ever realized. Heavenly Father has called him home. JR is in the presence of our Heavenly Father- where we all strive to make it someday. Heavenly Father loves him so much that JR has fulfilled his earthly mission in just 23 years and is now serving amongst his presence.
The gaping hole that he leaves in so many lives will never be filled. He touched the lives of many with his kind heart and accepting attitude towards all. As the youngest of 5 siblings, his family mourns the loss of their baby brother and son. I cannot imagine what that would feel like to loose a child.
Being a member of this church brings such an overwhelming amount of comfort, especially at this tragic time. Because of the Atonement and the love that Heavenly Father has for us, we know that JR is happy. And he was greated by his grammy and other family members that were patiently waiting for him to come home.

Our thoughts are with the Prices, I hope you can feel our prayers and Love all the way from California. We love you.

Until we meet again JR...
